Charles Martinet
Charles Martinet (pronounced
Martih-nay) was born in San Jose, CA in 1956 where he lived until he was
twelve. In 1968 the family moved to Barcelona, Spain; Paris, France, then
back to the Bay Area (San Francisco, San Jose area).
Martinet only started acting
when he was twenty at the urging of a friend who was teaching a course in
acting. He took the class, even though he was very nervous about being in
front of an audience of any sort. It occurred to him during a planned
monologue in class that he was enjoying himself. His parents, ever in
support of Charles' pursuits, sent him off to England to study theatre and
acting at the Drama Studio of London. Upon his return from England
Martinet went on to apprentice at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre.
Martinet auditioned for
everything he could and did hundreds of radio/TV spots and commercials, a myriad
of video games and more than a handful of feature films and television shows.
Martinet has appeared in over
seventy-five stage productions and has worked on over 100 video games, including
the role of Mario in all the Mario games.
Martinet currently lives in
Mill Valley, CA.
