Christopher Lee

Christopher Lee Live II DVD can be purchased at http://www.christopherleeweb.com

Photo from christopherleeweb.com

Christopher Lee was born May 27, 1922 in London, England, UK.  He stands 6'5" tall.

He studied at Summerfield Preparatory School and attended Wellington College then went to work in business in the City of London after school.  During the second world war he served in the Royal Air Force and in British Intelligence.  Lee is a classically trained singer but didn't often use his talent in film (a shame really - scroll down to CDs and listen to a recent recording of Mr. Lee singing) but, did manage to use his vocal training in a 1983 spoof called The Return of Captain Invincible.

Christopher Lee has had a prolific film and TV career, see below, including some of the most famous classic horror movies ever made.  He has shared the screen with equally famous fellow Hammer mates Peter Cushing (Tarkin: Star Wars), Vincent Price and John Carradine.   Two roles that made him a star were of Count Dracula and Sherlock Holmes (he is one of the only actors to have portrayed three different Sherlock Holmes characters: Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes and Henry Baskerville.  He has also demonstrated a flair for comedy, playing a Nazi officer in, Steven Spielberg's 1941 (1979).  And has played in the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles as Count Ottokar Graf Czerin (Lee knew members of the real Czerin family so gladly played the role of the Count).

Lee found the role of Count Dooku intriguing and was eager to immerse himself in the role.

He married Birgit (Gitte) Kroencke in 1961 and is still married to her.  They have one child, Christina.  He is also the Uncle of actress Harriet Walter. (Fanny Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility)
