Mardji the Elephant
Mardji was born in 1951
in the wild, in the African Bush/Savanna. She was trained at Marine World
Aftrica, USA (Now Six Flags Marine World), located in Vallejo/Redwood City, CA
(just south of San Francisco)
Mardji died (euthanasia) in
November of 1995 after suffering from chronic bone inflammation.

- Mardji was first transported to Northern California
for the filming of Star Wars: A New Hope in 1976. Mardji was not
comfortable in her Bantha costume and tried to remove it as often as she
could while the cameras rolled.

- In Episode I Mardji's nephew played Bantha's Yap.
