Ray Park

Ray Park was born on August 23,  1974 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK.  Ray and his family moved to London when he was seven years old.  His father loved martial arts and got Ray, at seven, into them as well as his brother and sister.  (The style he specializes in is called Wu Shu, but is also skilled at Tae Kwon Do and kickboxing).  By the time he was a teenager, Ray had already been in many competitions and become quite successful.  However, it was stocking shelves at a local store that paid the bills.  That is, until he got his start in the motion picture industry.

From the time he was a little kid, Ray has wanted to be in the movies.  But playing Han solo to his brother's Luke Skywalker might have been the closest he came if fate hadn't stepped in. A stunt coordinator, for Mortal Kombat: Annihilation 1997, saw Ray working out in a gym and was so impressed by his skills, he asked him to be a stuntman in the movie.  He worked as Rayden's stunt double, most notably in the fight scene about an hour into the film.

It was not long after this that Ray was contacted by Nick Gillard, stunt coordinator for The Phantom Menace 1999.  He was asked to come down and work out some of the fight scenes, for a test tape that would be shown to George Lucas.  Upon viewing the tape, Lucas realized that he had his Darth Maul.  Ray went on to give on of the greatest performances in Star Wars history. (with nearly no acting experience, he brought life to what has arguably been the most popular character in the entire saga)  Soon after his work on The Phantom Menace, Ray did the Headless Horseman's sword-fighting scenes in Sleepy Hollow 1999, and scored the role of Toad in  X-Men 2000.
