Treat Williams

Treat Williams (born Richard Williams) was born on December 1, 1951 in Rowaton, Connecticut, US.

Williams attended Franklin & Marshall College where he took up acting seriously (graduated in 1973).  Williams spent his summers at Fulton Repertory Theatre at Lancaster Pennsylvania in the heart of Amish and Moravian country.  Williams then headed for Manhattan where he understudied for John Travolta's Danny Zuko in Grease.  He had small roles in a few films until he got the part for Hair, after that he got a steady stream of work in film, television and theatre.

Miscellany
2006 - Williams was a participant in the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Celebrity Sports Invitational (snow sports) 1/12-15/06

Treat is a name from a maternal ancestor Robert Treat Payne, whose name is signed on the Declaration of Independence. (interesting to note here that Williams co-star in the film Hair is John Savage...one of his ancestor's was a signer of the Declaration of Independence as well, William Floyd)

Williams is a Certified Flight Instructor, rated in single and multi-engine airplanes and helicopters and in 2003 he completed two weeks of training to qualify him for flying jet engine planes.

2004 - attended the Reno National Championship Air Race (Sept)...first attending the Pylon Racing Seminar (summer).  He was a professional pilot in the 1980's for one year.

In the film Hair, second to last scene, there is a transport plane that takes his character off to Vietnam.  It was Williams who piloted the plane because they had no pilot for filming that day.

Williams is left-handed.

His character in Everwood was ranked #43 in 50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time (2004)
